Grace Smith is a fiddle player and viola player, and is inspired by reimagining tunes from archive sources and creating new music rooted in tradition. Delving into repertoire from across England, Grace‘s musical expertise is expressed through an authentic and engaging sound. As well as performing solo, she can often be seen with her band, the Grace Smith Trio, who released their debut album Overleaf in Autumn 2023 to great critical acclaim. The trio, featuring Sam Partridge and Bevan Morris, have played at festivals and venues including Folk By The Oak, Sidmouth Folk Week, and Cecil Sharp House. Grace’s mesmerising playing will stay with you long after you finish listening.

Grace is also part of the French dance band, Cri du Canard, and since spring 2022 she has played fiddle with Katie Doherty & the Navigators. As well as performing, Grace is a dedicated music educator; she is the Musical Director of the 2025 Folkworks Summer School, and has taught for many organisations including National Youth Folk Ensemble, Newcastle University and Halsway Manor.
